The only way Gran Turismo 5 should be played…

Posted on June 27th, 2008 in Videogames & Interactive Media | No Comments »

… is with this baby right here. The game lives up to being the one and only “real driving simulator” on so many levels. I just don’t know why they didn’t go all the way and make a G35 version for the PS3. Oh well, I’m not complaining. There isn’t any shortage of valid reasons to get a next-gen system anyway.
Well maybe a little — I ain’t got a PS3 or HDTV. At least not yet.

Gran Theft Auto IV gets a Perfect Score on IGN

Posted on April 27th, 2008 in Videogames & Interactive Media | No Comments »

Only one more day before the Grand Theft Auto IV bomb is dropped on all the lucky gamers in the US. As for the rest of us? Well, the first review of GTA IV is already posted on IGN here. Lucky bastards. Will update this with other review scores as they are posted. In the meantime, check out GTA IV’s launch center on 1up.com.
I think the more pressing question is this — how do you top a perfect game? I wouldn’t be surprised if the people at Rockstar Games think of something.

Handheld Gaming Charging Stations at Burger King

Posted on April 11th, 2008 in Technology, Videogames & Interactive Media | No Comments »

When they say “LO BAT, NO BAT, ANY KIND OF BAT.”, the people at Burger King really mean it.
I was having lunch at the Galleria today with some former office mates when I noticed something different about their charging station. Not only are these things able to charge mobile phones of different makes and models, the fastfood chain has started providing charging stations to handheld gamers as well!
If you’re the type of person who never leaves home without your PSP or DS, now you know where to go when the batteries start going bye bye.

Was there any doubt? GT5: Prologue releases in Europe, and sells out!

Posted on April 1st, 2008 in Videogames & Interactive Media | No Comments »

While we await for the final release of the greatest thing since sliced bread, we’ll gladly settle for its prologue counterpart. We’re so glad to settle, in fact, that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’s release in Europe has catapulted the game to the top spot on Amazon’s UK site. It holds pole position (that’s #1 in auto race talk, folks) in the PC and Videogames category on the online retailer. Furthermore, Play.com, one of the largest game stores in the UK, is reporting a sell-out for initial shipments.

So many consoles, so little cash (and time). LOL. If it all came down to choosing one next gen platform, I would choose the PS3, only because of this game. Really. If you haven’t seen any videos of Gran Turismo 5, you better go on and check the game’s Gametrailers.com page. I’m sure the game is going to deliver what Sony […]

Need a reason to get a Next-Gen System this April?

Posted on March 25th, 2008 in Videogames & Interactive Media | No Comments »

The game itself costs $59.99. For $30 more, you get all of this instead. What kind of a no brainer is that? I’m sure Sony and Microsoft are wishing this game was an exclusive to their platform. Here’s some real life GTA for your enjoyment.

Guitar Hero On Tour for Nintendo DS

Eat this PSP fanboys.
I’ve never been this excited for a gaming accessory since the Logitech G35 came out (Sadly, I cannot afford it until now). And I don’t even play the guitar! It’s still 2 months away, but I’ll be waiting for it. Hope the fools who price the items at Toy Kingdom don’t charge an arm and a leg.

According to this link, the Philippines will have about 6.3 million online gamers in 2008, in a study that was released by International Data Corporation.
MANILA, Jan. 28 (Xinhuanet) — The number of online gamers in the Philippines will reach 6.3 million by 2008, said a research released by the International Data Corporation (IDC). The increase is driven by the availability of new online gametitles and more broadband connections

Imagine my amusement when I came across an article in today’s Inquirer. Please pay special attention to the numbers that were mentioned.
The networks are taking different routes to gaming glory. ABS-CBN has its wholly owned unit Amped Games. The unit registered 2.5 million active users for 2007 and wants to double that to 5 million in 2008, said Mitch Padua, Amped Games division head.

GMA is catching up by forging an P800-million joint venture called I-Play with listed conglomerate IPVG Corp., which has an […]

Guinness Book of World Records: Gaming Edition

Posted on January 6th, 2008 in Videogames & Interactive Media | No Comments »

Who’s the old hag on the Q-bert machine? She’s just the oldest gamer to every set gaming records in the US. She, and a whole group of couch potatoes gamers will be in the first edition of the Guinness Book of World Records: Gamers’ Edition. It’s just another validation of how big gaming has become. I mean c’mon, who would have thought they’d be able to compile records about every single thing in gaming?
This gives me an idea, and it’s somehow related to a previous post. What it is? I’d rather keep it under wraps until I’m entirely sure that it can’t be done

Would you spend $25,000 for this thing? I’m particularly curious about how the “virtual wind system”. Who are these guys fooling, those are just normal fans. Anyway, full specs here.
