If you think you can go and run in UP every other day for two whole months and be prepared for the Men’s Health All-Terrain Race, you obviously have no idea what you’re getting yourself into (Parang ako! Lol). I ran. I climbed. I *barely* conquered probably the longest run I’ve ever taken in my life.
12km run x (Who knows how many steep hills + Scorching heat of the sun) = An experience I will never ever forget.

For the 3rd year in a row, Men’s Health magazine will be holding its annual All-Terrain Race in Timberland Heights, San Mateo, Rizal. In true Men’s Health fashion, the event is a celebration of people who have embraced the magazine’s lifestyle. The event will take place on June 15, Father’s Day, and promises to trump the past two in terms of participation and prestige.
For those who have no idea what the race is about, you’ll be running up sloping hills instead of level paths. You’ll be biking on rough terrain and encountering steep drops as opposed to well paved roads. Do you have what it takes?
I hope I do. For the first time, I will be joining the All-Terrain Race (Haven’t decided though if I’m going to run or bike). If I find the time to bring my bike up there and train, then I would rather do that, […]

My girlfriend had already been blogging since 2003 when I found out what blogging was. Not that I’m competing with her, but I just realized that it took me only 7 months to reach what it took her 6 years to do — reach a hundred posts. I’d also be the first to tell you though, that quality wise, I think I have a long way to go. Visit her new blog and you’ll know what I mean.
Over the past few months, I also realized that this is a dedication. Slowly but surely, my misconception that blogging was nothing but an online attempt for self promotion also started to wane. All of these realizations came to be just because I wanted to write. Write about how I feel, whenever I feel like it. This is who I am. And this blog is a daily collection of my own Jerry Ma-****ing […]

Resume writing is something I took seriously when I was just looking to join the workforce. For one, I didn’t want to end up in a job that I didn’t like. Two, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do back then. If anything, a person’s resume can actually become the ticket to finding the perfect job.
Ever wondered what employers look for when scouting for talent online? Here’s my informal take.

Until now, a lot of people still ask me what I do. Even my dad asked me the other week if I could get my hands on an expensive replacement part for his Mazda Tribute. How do I put this — we’re the marketing arm of one of the largest online car part retailers in the US, and yet, I can’t get my hands on any kind of auto part. Bah.
Funny eh? Well, that’s exactly why we have these Internet Marketing Bootcamps, so we can fully explain ourselves. I know what you’re thinking, not another seminar. You have to remember, it’s not about me, or any of my fellow speakers. It’s about how Internet Marketing in the Philippines will take off within the next few years, and how YOU can be part of it.
Just click on this link to find out what I mean. The best thing about it? It’s […]

Part of my duties as a publisher in my previous job was to present the brand I was handling to potential advertisers. Not only did I have to make tailor made presentations to each advertiser, I had to make sure that I was available whenever they had concerns or requests that had to be addressed. If there’s one thing I learned about myself through that practice, it’s that self promotion made me uncomfortable.
I used to work with FHM.
I launched the first local videogame magazine in the Philippines.
I worked with the biggest gadget magazine in the country.
I handled the Philippine edition of the world’s largest and most influential men’s magazine.
You know what, even if these things are hard to say, this stuff is true.

It’s that time of the year again, when people try to make up for their heightened cholesterol count by suddenly going to the gym. It’s a universal cycle. Halfway around the world, we see a city is trying to lose a million pounds. If you think about it, no one is to blame. Anyone who’s not vegetarian and is able to resist Lydia during the holiday season is inhuman.
Just the other day, I decided to kickoff my post Christmas diet by indulging in a few simple sacrifices to “get back in shape” again. I’m no fitness expert (those who need something to get them started should buy *ehem*, Men’s Health Magazine), but if you happen to find yourself wanting to lose weight gradually, here’s a short list you can follow.

After a month of sporadic efforts to train at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center, occasional battles with a bothersome ankle sprain, and another unexplained foot injury, I’ve finally managed to fulfill my birthday promise - finish the Men’s Health Philippines Urbanathlon.
